Why do I need an Interior Designer?!

I posted a reel last week on my instagram and my DM’s blew UP! It was all about how sure, anyone can buy nice things and put them in a room, but that doesn’t ACTUALLY make them an Interior Designer!

So, I thought I would write a lil’ blog post answering the biggest question that came up - WHY do you need an Interior Designer?!

A true interior designer knows how to make a space feel something. It’s not just about filling a room with beautiful furniture or on trend decor; it’s about crafting an experience. They tap into the energy of the room, the vibe of the people who live there, and create an atmosphere that tells a story. It is their narrative- their space - their lives.

Anyone can throw a bunch of stuff together, but a skilled designer knows how to:

Balance form and function:

It’s about making things look good and work well together. You don’t just want a beautiful room—you want one that feels comfortable, flows naturally, and is tailored to how you live.

Use colour psychology:

Every shade, hue, and tone evokes an emotion. A designer knows which colors bring energy, calm, warmth, or tranquility to a room. After all, we want to FEEL something in our spaces and colour makes us FEEL all sorts of things! The space will dictate what colours you use - you wouldn’t want to use a colour that keeps you energised and awake when it is your bedroom and you already have trouble sleeping! An Interior Designer knows thee things and can help walk you through what colours work in which spaces and why.

Sourcing & budgets:

An Interior Designer can seamlessly combine luxury items with budget-friendly finds, making your space look like a million bucks without breaking the bank. They know where to shop and when to shop!

Create a narrative:

It’s not just furniture—it’s a story. Whether it's through a statement piece, a curated collection, or a hidden detail, great design makes a room feel like something. after all - isn’t that what we want most of all from our spaces?!

Push boundaries:

Maybe it's a piece of art, a clever furniture arrangement, or lighting that changes the mood entirely—design is about making you fall in love with your space in a whole new way. An Interior designer will push your boundaries to see your space in a different way. They won’t be bogged down in boundaries that you set because you physically live in the space.

These are just a few ways that an Interior Designer can help you transform your space - and I haven’t even mentioned that knowledge they have when it comes to the principals and elements of design!!

so, to answer everyone’s queston… Yes, anyone can fill a room with “stuff”, but a designer knows how to fill it with soul. That’s the magic!

Hit me up in the DM’s or via email with any questions you have - I absolutely love hearing all about your spaces and I am ready to help!
